Meet Our Dental Team Marietta

Decades of Care, One Trusted Team

Most of the dental team in our Marietta office has decades of experience providing first-class customer service and superior, personalized care. In fact, many staff members have remained by Dr. DeShetler’s side for 20+ years. As a result, we know our patients’ names and spend time getting to know everyone who walks through our doors. In preparation for you and your family’s first visit, we invite you to learn more about our team in the bios below.

Kayla, Office Manager

For over a decade, Kayla has been the first face that our patients see when they enter through our practice doors! For her, the most rewarding part of her work is seeing the difference a healthy smile can make in someone’s life. Kayla attended Georgia Highlands College, where she earned her associate degree and Dental Assistant Program Certificate.

In her free time, Kayla enjoys spending time with her nieces and black lab, Nellie, who inspires the warmth and compassion she brings to the practice each day. She enjoys the simple things in life, like getting lost in a good book, spending time in nature, and discovering new restaurants. Her hobbies keep her relaxed and curious. Kayla has the gift of being great at recognizing faces and remembering people’s names!

Alex, Dental Hygienist

Alex has been working alongside Dr. Shetler for virtually her entire decade-long career in the dental field. Her favorite part of coming to work every day is getting to know her patients and their families. She attended Georgia State University and is licensed to perform various dental hygiene duties, including taking X-rays, deep cleanings, patient education, and laser dental treatments.

Alex is from Brasov, Romania originally. She has two teenage sons and enjoys exploring new areas and tasting all the wonderful foods of the world on her travels. She also likes going hiking and cooking. An interesting (and miraculous!) fact about Alex is that when she was little, she was hit by a bus and came out of it without a single scratch!

Sasha, Dental Hygienist

Sasha has been working in the dental field for well over a decade. She enjoys helping patients keep their smiles healthy and whole. Sasha is a graduate of Georgia Highlands College and is a registered dental hygienist. She also has her certifications in CPR and laser dentistry.

Originally from Woodstock, Georgia, Sasha’s family includes her husband and their two children. When she isn’t at the office she enjoys woodworking and remodeling her family’s home. A fun fact about Sasha is that she used to build architectural models.

Marcela, Dental Hygienist

Marcela has spent her entire career working alongside the team at Benjamin W. DeShetler DDS, LLC and has over five years of experience. The best thing about her job is being able to help others improve and maintain optimal oral health. She attended Atlanta Technical College as well as Georgia State University, where she completed her associate and bachelor’s degrees in dental hygiene. She’s also certified in CPR and laser dentistry.

Marcela and her husband are high school sweethearts and share their home with their lovely pug, Petunia. Whenever she isn’t at the dental office, you can find her running on the local trails, planning her next adventure, or spending time with her loved ones. She also loves trying new restaurants!

Shelby, Dental Assistant

Shelby is our amazing dental assistant with over five years of experience in the field. She enjoys working with new and improved technology and helping her patients overcome their dental anxiety by doing everything she can to make their visit feel comfortable and positive. She’s a graduate of Scott Community College’s Dental Program and has hands-on experience in chairside assisting, sterilization, patient communication, front desk, and radiology. She also has her CPR certification.

Together, Shelby and her husband enjoy traveling and spending time with their two golden retrievers who keep their lives lively. She considers herself a do-it-yourselfer and does anything and everything DIY. She also enjoys hosting events and bringing people together. An interesting fact about Shelby is that she reads between 50 and 100 books a year!
